THIS SEASON IS NOT YOUR FINAL DESTINATION

Whether you are in a season of mourning, heartbreak, disappointment, love, new beginnings, or loss in any way, shape, or form, what you are going through in this season is not your final destination. With every season, we can sometimes find ourselves in circumstances that seem beyond the parameters of our human control. Sometimes all we can see are walls crashing in from the north, the south, the east, and the west. When we are standing right in the middle of that situation, it can feel as though all hope is lost and there is no easy way out.

It can leave us wondering, “Where to from here, when this is all that I know and all that I have?” Sometimes, it is in these moments that we begin asking questions we perhaps should have asked long before we got here: “What is the purpose of life? Why am I here? What is the point?” When the pain becomes overwhelming, we can become consumed by the worst things that have happened to us - the heartbreak, disappointment, rejection, grief, or loss that left a mark so deep that its sharpness still seems to remain. One moment you feel like you're standing on the mountaintop, and the next you feel like you're walking ten miles through a valley that seems never-ending. Seasons may change, but there is one truth that never changes: through every season, God is with you, and you are never alone.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE IN THIS SEASON

You may be walking through a season you never expected to face. Whether you have walked with God for years, are just beginning to seek Him, or are not even sure what you believe, there is hope beyond what you can presently see. There is a God who sees you, knows you, cares about you, and knows exactly what you are walking through. Your circumstances may change. People may come and go. Those you trusted may have betrayed you, loved ones may have abandoned or neglected you, plans may have fallen apart, and doors may have closed unexpectedly. But the presence and faithfulness of God are not determined by what is happening around you. God is with you through it all. He is faithful because that is who He is, not because of what you have done. Knowing that God is with us does not mean every season will suddenly become easy. Sometimes we still have to walk through the valley. The difference is that we do not have to walk through it without Him.

DON'T GIVE UP

There are moments in life when the weight of everything can feel almost too much to carry. You may feel exhausted from fighting battles no one else can see, discouraged by circumstances that have not changed, or simply tired of trying to hold everything together. But wherever you find yourself today, don't give up. You don't have to have everything figured out before you move forward. Sometimes all you can do is take the next step, then another, and then another. But how do we continue moving when we cannot see where the road is leading? This is where faith comes in.

WHAT DOES FAITH LOOK LIKE IN DIFFICULT SEASONS?

Faith is not pretending everything is okay when it isn't. It does not mean ignoring your pain, denying what you are facing, or acting as though you never have questions. Biblical faith is placing your trust in God even when you cannot see or understand what He is doing.

Hebrews 11 teaches us that faith involves confidence concerning what we hope for and conviction concerning what we cannot yet see (Hebrews 11:1). It also teaches us that faith is essential to pleasing God and that those who come to Him must believe that He is and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).

Faith becomes especially important when the answer has not arrived yet. It is choosing to trust God's character when circumstances are uncertain, continuing to seek Him while you are waiting, and recognising that what you can see is not all that God can see. Throughout the Bible, we see this kind of faith lived out through people who experienced waiting, suffering, betrayal, uncertainty, and opposition.

Abraham's faith required him to trust God's promise even when he could not see how it would be fulfilled. God promised Abraham descendants, yet Abraham and Sarah waited many years for the promised son (Genesis 12:1–4; Genesis 15:1–6; Genesis 21:1–3). Romans describes Abraham as continuing to believe God's promise despite what his natural circumstances appeared to say (Romans 4:18–21). His faith rested not in what he could see, but in the God who had made the promise.

Job's faith was tested through extraordinary loss and suffering. He lost his children and possessions (Job 1:13–19) and later suffered physically in his own body (Job 2:7–8). Yet in the middle of his grief, Job continued to acknowledge and worship God (Job 1:20–22). His story shows us that faith does not mean we cannot grieve, hurt, or ask difficult questions. Sometimes faith means continuing to turn toward God from within the pain.

Joseph's faith carried him through betrayal, slavery, false accusation, and imprisonment. His own brothers betrayed him and sold him into slavery (Genesis 37:18–28). Later, after being falsely accused, Joseph was placed in prison (Genesis 39:11–20). Yet even there, Scripture tells us that the Lord was with Joseph (Genesis 39:21–23). Years later, Joseph recognised that although others had intended evil against him, God had worked through what happened for a greater purpose (Genesis 50:20).

David's faith developed through waiting and opposition. He was anointed to become king while he was still young (1 Samuel 16:12–13), but the fulfilment did not happen immediately. David later spent years fleeing from Saul, who wanted to kill him (1 Samuel 23:14–15). During seasons of fear, David repeatedly turned toward God and placed his trust in Him (Psalm 56:3–4).

Abraham had to wait. Job walked through suffering. Joseph experienced betrayal and injustice. David faced fear and opposition. Their circumstances were different, but their stories point us toward the same truth: faith continues looking toward God when circumstances give us reasons to look elsewhere.

GOD WILL STRENGTHEN YOU

Maybe you are thinking, “But I don't have the strength to keep going.” You don't have to manufacture strength you don't have. Isaiah 41:10 reminds us that God is with us and promises to strengthen, help, and uphold His people. There will be moments when you reach the end of your own strength, but that can become the place where you learn what it means to depend upon His. Bring your weariness, questions, disappointments, fears, and uncertainty before God. Abraham waited, Job worshipped through suffering, Joseph remained faithful through the process, and David continued seeking God while the promise seemed far away. And the God they trusted is the God I want to introduce you to.

HIS NAME IS JESUS CHRIST

If you have read this far and you are wondering, “Who is this God I am being encouraged to trust?” His name is Jesus Christ. Jesus is not distant from the broken places of our lives. He came into our world and experienced human suffering. He knows grief, rejection, betrayal, pain, and loss. Yet His purpose went far beyond simply giving us encouragement for difficult seasons. Jesus came to save us. The Bible teaches that sin separates humanity from God, but God did not leave us separated from Him. In His love, He came to us through Jesus Christ. Jesus died for our sins and rose again so that through faith in Him we can be forgiven, reconciled to God, and receive the gift of eternal life. That is the Good News, the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The hope I am pointing you toward is not simply the hope that your circumstances will eventually improve. Circumstances change. Seasons change. People change. Our ultimate hope is Jesus Christ. If you don't know God, are still discovering what you believe, or simply want to understand why Jesus came, I invite you to read The Good News: Why We Preach It and discover the Gospel for yourself.

KEEP TURNING THE PAGE

Wherever this finds you today, don't allow one chapter to convince you that you have reached the end of the book. You cannot see every page ahead, but you can decide where you will place your trust while you walk through the page you are living now. If you are waiting, keep seeking God. If you are grieving, bring your grief to Him. If you are afraid, bring Him your fear. If you are exhausted, depend upon His strength. If you don't know Him yet, seek the truth about Jesus for yourself. Whatever season you are walking through, keep turning the page and keep looking toward Christ.

A PRAYER FOR YOU 🕊️

Heavenly Father, holy is Your name. I pray for the person reading this today.

May Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in their life, even in the season they do not understand.

Provide what they need for today. Give them strength when they are weary, comfort when they are hurting, wisdom when they do not know what to do, and peace when everything around them feels uncertain.

Forgive their sins and help them to forgive those who have hurt them. Guard their heart, protect them from temptation and evil, and guide their steps according to Your will.

For the person who does not yet know You, I pray that they would come to know the truth of who You are and encounter the love, grace, forgiveness, and salvation found in Jesus Christ.

Strengthen the person who feels like giving up. Teach them to trust You when they cannot see what comes next and help them take the next step in faith.

May their life bring glory to You, and through every season, may they come to know You more deeply.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.

BE ENCOURAGED.
